Redundant module designed to enhance the reliability of power supply systems with support for 48 V input.

The ERDN20-48 module from MEAN WELL is a professional solution for creating redundant power systems in industrial applications. It supports a 2-channel input with configurable 1+1 or N+1 redundancy, significantly increasing overall system reliability. Thanks to advanced MOSFET technology, the module achieves high efficiency of up to 98% with a minimal voltage drop of only 0.2 V.

The module is designed for demanding industrial environments with an extremely wide operating temperature range of -40 to +80 °C. Its enclosed metal design ensures mechanical durability and cooling through natural convection. Integrated DC OK relay contacts enable remote power status monitoring and automatic fault indication.

Advanced redundancy functions
The module supports three operating modes: classic 1+1 redundancy with one backup power source, extended N+1 redundancy for multiple power supplies, or single-use mode to reduce MOSFET load and extend component lifespan. Automatic switching between sources occurs without power interruption.

Monitoring and diagnostics
Each input channel is equipped with an independent DC OK relay contact that indicates power status. The relay activates when the voltage is within ± 5% of the nominal level and deactivates in case of a fault or undervoltage. A green LED indicator provides visual status feedback for both channels.

High reliability
The module is designed for long-term maintenance-free operation with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 618,150 hours according to the Telcordia SR-332 standard. Cooling by natural convection eliminates fan wear and reduces operating costs.
